"Plan 35 proposes a new order…"
In our conflicted, multicultural national setting, is it possible to attempt and implement a "new order"?
As this volume addresses the issue of Utopia, it was significantly important for us at block magazine, to look at the actual formations of Israel's urban planning, control and supervision systems and at their affect on the ways in which our space is produced, thus we sat down to reexamine the concept of "national master plan".
Our round table revolves around Plan 35 which is being examined from various prisms. Rebecca Steinberg, architect and strategist, presents the plan and its methodology through an analysis and renewed graphic representation. She believes in the Third Way of planning; Dr. Dror K. Levi and Prof. Dani Gutwein rethink Marxism, and discuss the role of the State in organization and production of space; Ayala Ronel, an activist architect that operates through her practice, addresses the plan's directions and the planning reality it produces; Daniel Morgenstern, environmental consultant, discusses the plan's environmental aspects.
